To get to Chalk Bluff dive site, follow boat dock sings and Diver signs after entering Park Chalk Bluff. Swim Directly across river to the deeper water. Walking across the river you will generally only be a few feet of water but as you get closer to the other side it gets deeper fast and in some places abruptly. This will be a long channel that may vary in depth due to river water levels. This was a nice shallow very enjoyable dive in crystal clear water in most places. Even though the water is in the 80's during the summer, you may still consider a thin wet suit due to the amount of time that can be spent underwater at 10 to 15 feet on one tank of air. There were some people snorkeling in the area that seemed to enjoy the water but I feel that it is worth diving. |
