Recommended dive areas

The most popular dive area is the first small gravel parking lot just past the Hells Creek bridge heading to Hells Creek Campgrounds. Under water there are small ledges and a dive platform in the area. The water seems to have a green tint from the algae in this part of the lake during the summer which can reduce the visibility. There are signs stating that there is no swimming in the area so be sure to check with the rangers office before entering the water at this spot.

The dam area off of the road that leads to Lucas Park seems to have nicer water and has a gradual slope to deeper water with a bottom that mostly consisting of sand and mud like substance.

A boat will give great access to the many cliffs that extend out of the water.
